We are Based in Mabaruma, Region 1, very near the border
with Venezuela. This location allows us to provide air support
for medical emergencies to
all of Region 1 with relatively short flights and there are no
other aircraft based there. A 2006 study by the Guyanese
government states that vaccination rates for region 1 are 83% less
than any other region in Guyana. Some more remote areas have
possibly never had them and there is a serious concern for a
pandemic in the region that
could get out of control.
The primary reason that the vaccinations are not being administered
is lack of transportation, both air and water.
We work closely with the Ministry of Health to help provide access
into these areas.

Wings for Humanity is assisting with air
transportation and is currently working on a concept for a much
needed medical/mission launch to provide much needed access to
medical care along the rivers.
